ACRES was established in the year 2011, when the Horn of Africa was gripped by a drought which killed many people. In response for the natural calamity, ACRES started mobilizing communities
A world where natural habitats and environments can sustain and be sustained by the communities that depend on them for their basic needs and livelihoods.
To protect communities and the ecosystems they depend for their livelihoods from the adverse impacts of climate change through empowering them to adapt and mitigate climate change
Action for Climate Resilient Solutions (ACRES) is a local non-governmental, not-for-profit, non-sectarian, non-partisan, humanitarian, advocacy and development organization that works in Kenya and Somalia to help local communities adapt and mitigate the impact of climate change and climate variability. ACRES works where poverty and hunger are deepest, particularly in the most remote regions, where few development agencies venture by investing in rural people, empowering them to increase their food security, improve the nutrition of their families and increase their incomes through building their resilience to climate change and climate variability.
ACRES also promotes CBA, which supports the adaptation needs of poor and marginalized peoples living in high-risk environments.
Shifting weather patterns as a result of climate change, affecting rainfall and temperature, are likely to impact the ecosystem goods and services such as clean water and food on which people rely.
